Intro

Color in the world of adveritising can be a very useful tool. it can be used as a representative object to help show what a product is used for, or it can be used to make a product appear to be something that it isnt. It can also be used in a psycological way to make a product appear tasty, fun, or anything else the consumer is loking for. Regardless, the use of color in adveritising cannot be denied as a powerful tool.

Flavor

Color can also be used in a representative way. For example all over the world color is used to represent the flavor of a product. A product that is orange flavored isnt going to have purple packaging. This makes everything easy for the consumer. The faster that they can find what their looking for the less likely they are to leave without your product in their hands.

Adobe Products

As you can see from the picture, even products that we as graphic students use everyday such as photoshop and illustrator, use symbolic color in their packaging. The rainbow variety of colors on the package is not only meant to attract the customer, it is also used as a symbol for the versatility of the product. it shows that anything is possible when using adobe products.

Cigarette Ads

Notice the similarities in color between this cigarette packaging and the bright colors in the candy. This is part of the psycological aspect of color in adveritising. Everyone knows that cigarette ads target children, under close inspection of the products it is clearly evident that this is true.

Candy

Candy companies are also another great example for the use of color in products. These companies know that their main demographic is young children. This is why we see the use of such bright vibrant colors. This is a tactic used by the companies to catch the attention of the children. However not only does it grab their attention, it also makes the children believe that whatever is inside that bright and colorful wrapper is going to be fun and make them happy. With these kinds of colors staring kids in the face, it would be hard to resist purchasing a product.

Beer

Take a look at the colors used on this beer can. Blue, Silver , and White. These three colors are repeated throughout nearly all of the beer industry. Coors, Budweiser, Labatt, These colors are used so frequently because they make the beer appear colder and more refreshing. This results in a higher customer base and more products sold.
